Two-Day Introduction to Shadow Work

A practical two-day guide with reflection exercises. Written from lived experience — not as a prescription, as an invitation.

The question

What is the shadow, and how do we begin?

Not with a personality overhaul. With a journal, two quiet days, and the courage to look at what you have been managing instead of meeting.

The work

What you hide does not disappear. It waits.

The shadow is not a moral failure. It is the warehouse of what you disowned in order to belong — anger stored because it was unsafe, tenderness stored because it was inconvenient, desire stored because it was too much.

It leaks as the reaction larger than the moment. As the person you cannot stand. As the pattern you swore you had outgrown.

These twelve pages will not empty the warehouse. They will show you the door, and walk with you through the first two days.

Inside the pages

Two days. Six sittings. A beginning you can actually finish.

Day 1

Notice

Morning, afternoon, evening. You map a trigger, name the age it carries, and thank the protector that installed it.

Day 2

Relate

You retrieve a projection, sit down with one part for an honest conversation, and choose a slightly different fork.

  • 20–40 minutes

Twice a day. No marathon. No performance of insight.

  • Write by hand

Lined pages in the guide. Your words stay on your device.

  • 12 pages

Short enough to finish. Honest enough to matter.

This is for you if

  • You keep meeting the same pattern in a new room.
  • You are tired of becoming a “better” person.
  • You want a beginning, not a 30-day performance.
  • You can sit with discomfort without needing a slogan.

This is not

  • Therapy, diagnosis, or a substitute for either.
  • A promise of overnight change.
  • A hall pass to act out what you find.
  • Work to do if you are in acute crisis — get a human first.

The author

Written the way it was lived.

Martina Sachs is an author and visual artist. Awakening from Shadows grew out of her own hardship — the kind that forces a person to look inward or keep repeating the same painful patterns. She chose to look inward. The book, the charcoal, and this two-day beginning are the fruit of that choice.

Art and writing are both ways of making the invisible visible.

The longer companion

Awakening from Shadows

The book explores the terrain between who we present to the world and who we are beneath it — how patterns form, how they go invisible, and how they can be understood, challenged, and released. This two-day guide is the doorway. The book is the house.

Two days. Six sittings of twenty to forty minutes. You can stretch it if a sitting needs more air — this is not a race.

No. The two-day guide is a complete beginning. Awakening from Shadows is the longer companion if you want to go further.
